Frequency converter provides energy savings on our extraction process cupola furnace

At Proferro, our commitment to sustainability begins with our processes. To this end, we continuously invest in advanced technologies that will enable us to be more energy efficient.

One of the ways of achieving this is by saving energy on the extraction process of our cupola furnace. Our extraction system consists of a turbine that is coupled to an electric motor that pulls exhaust gases and fine dust out of the cupola furnace, which prevents them from entering the atmosphere. Meanwhile, a frequency converter varies the speed of the motor based on several measurements.

This results in fewer particulate emissions as well as energy savings of approximately 60% in the extraction process compared to a motor without a frequency converter.
