Proferro opens new high-bay warehouse in Ieper in the presence of Flemish Minister Hilde Crevits
On Monday, September 13, 2021, Proferro officially opened its new high-bay warehouse in the presence of Flemish Minister Hilde Crevits.
The high-bay warehouse standing at 32 meters is the new logistical beating heart of Proferro. With this investment, Proferro in Ieper intends to further plan for the future. The warehouse covers a surface area of 2,000 m2 and offers more than 10,000 available pallet spaces. It is also equipped with four automated cranes and a new loading and unloading area with various loading docks. All of the processes in the new high-bay warehouse are fully automated and fully digital.
"Our new high-bay warehouse represents a big step in our evolution towards realizing more automation and digitalization. With the new warehouse, we are responding to our capacity growth in one fell swoop while also improving our logistics flow. But this is just the beginning. Our ambition is to develop a 100% future-proof Proferro in which the supply chain, from production to storage, runs through one integrated digital system. This will enable us to fuel our growth and serve our customers even faster and more efficiently. This new high-bay warehouse is an important advancement in making our Ieper site more sustainable in the long term," said Cathy Defoor (Vice President Proferro).
"Flanders and West Flanders, in particular, has an excellent reputation in mechanical engineering and mechatronics, especially for the textile sector, thanks to innovation champions such as Picanol Group. We will only be able to maintain our international competitiveness if our companies make maximum use of automation and digitalization. We also want to stimulate the digital transformation of the industry as much as possible via our top research center, Flanders Make. It is therefore positive to see that Proferro has made such an investment in this high-tech warehouse that has been opened today. It shows that our mechanical engineering sector is ready for the future," said Flemish Minister Hilde Crevits.
For the construction of the high-bay warehouse, Proferro worked closely with several local partners, including Alheembouw, Ceratec, and Stow.
